I won't take no for an answer 9.9.2011

Dear Friends,

As we approach our first choir services of the year, I am so thankful that we have the opportunity to sing as our congregation and community gather to pray for peace on the tenth anniversary of such an important moment in our history.   The flow of our worship will be somewhat different than usual, offering more space for prayer and reflection.  Our music (hymns and anthems) all invites us into the walls of God's peace, assuring us that not one is forgotten, that war shall be no more.  It will be a beautiful morning.  Thank you for your willingness to sing your peace at both the 9:00 and 10:30 services.  We will assemble in our robes at 8:00 in the choir room to prepare our bodies, minds, spirits, and voices for worship.  We will have some fellowship time over breakfast between services as well.

The beautiful sound we have begun to create together these last few weeks is nothing short of extraordinary.  The positive, radiant spirit we have begun to experience is nothing short of inspiring.  The sanctuary we have begun to create within our choir these last few weeks is nothing short of holy.  We broaden our embrace Sunday to share all of this with our congregation-- to serve God as we serve one another; to be assurance of God's presence and grace, hope and peace.  It is beautiful, radiant, holy work we do together.  We are blessed.  : )

I share with you a brief whim of St. Catherine of Siena that Becky Shane forwarded to me.  Allow it to be heard in the context of what I've shared above:

"I won't take no for an answer," God began to say to me...when he opened his arms each night wanting us to dance.

Let's dance.  Sunday 8:00 a.m.  AMEN!
