Dear Singers,

  1. Thanks to all who participated in last Sunday’s Music Appreciation Sunday. Numerous people were uplifted by your contributions.

  1. As we begin to wrap up the season, I wanted to summarize the final events: We have two more Wednesday night rehearsals (the 20th & 31st) during which we will look at music for the coming weeks and the month of June. During June, we will not rehearse on Wednesdays, but WILL sing at the 10:30 service, meeting at 9:30 to warm-up. July will be a casual choir welcoming members from the First Plymouth Chorale or others that may want to participate. I hope as many who are able will take part.

  1. We are also scheduled to sing for the Nebraska Choral Directors Association on Monday evening, July 13th. The music for this event will draw upon familiar literature but will require a couple of rehearsals in addition to the last two regular rehearsals mentioned above. I’m proposing that those rehearsals take place on July 1st and July 8th, with a possible final rehearsal on Sunday night, July 12th. I hope all of you will consider taking part in this event as it is a great honor to be asked! You will find a commitment card in your box, or you may send me an email pledging your participation in this event.

Many thanks,

Jeremy

Dear Singers,

Bravo to you for your hard work last night. You might be interested in the video above to hear a performance of the Mendelssohn:

Please note that they go right into movement two of the symphony, and thus don’t take the optional ending that we are doing. It is also in German, but listening to it should inspire a little more confidence in some of the trickier spots!

Please be robed and ready to go at 8:15 on Sunday. We sing BOTH services with breakfast served between.

As always, thank you for the incredible ministry that you provide and take part in.

In peace,

Jeremy

Just a few reminders for all of you.

  1. FPC sings Sunday Morning, with the usual 9:30 warm-up time. Although we are singing two concert pieces, I’m expecting to see many of you who are not singing the concert as they are pieces we worked on as a whole – “The Lord is My Shepherd” from Requiem, and “Dear Lord and Father” from Song of Stillness. The Doane choir is not singing with us in the morning. On that same note however, any Abendmusik Only folks are certainly welcome to join us.

  1. ONE MORE REMINDER: Sunday is the Lincoln Marathon, so plan your routes accordingly and plan to leave home a little early! J

  1. Saturday’s rehearsal will begin promptly at 11:00 AM WITH orchestra, so please plan to be in place in the church nave before 11 AM. We will take a short break at noon (about 20 minutes) if you care to bring a sandwich, otherwise eat a hearty breakfast or plan on a late lunch. We will be finished at 1:30 PM. The sounds coming forth are truly spectacular, thanks for all your hard work!

  1. Sadie Kliewer will be helping with selling tickets during the break tomorrow. To get the choir discount – buy one/get one free, you need to purchase the tickets in advance!

  1. A Reminder that ALL OF YOU (even those not singing this concert) are invited to the Year end Abendmusik Party. Lesley has graciously agreed to host this event thank members of FPC/Abendmusik for the wonderful year of work and music making.

Details: Friday, May 8 6:00 - 9:00
Lesley Myers home
(check email for address or ask at FirstPlymouthChoir@gmail.com )

BYOB and BYOM (music) Willa Foster Jones will accompany on the piano.
We need to have numbers for this, so if you have not already alerted your section leader, please RSVP to me by email that you will be able to attend.

6. Next Wednesday’s rehearsal will be important as we will now only have two rehearsals before Music Appreciation Sunday (Sunday, May 17th.)

I hope your weekend is off to a great start!

Jeremy
